Total Beginner Japanese Classes

Hajimemashite and Welcome!

ABC Languages Total Beginner Japanese course is for students with little to no background in Japanese. In our 8 week course (textbook included), students can expect to learn basic vocabulary, build up their basic language skills as well as gain an introduction to the Hiragana and Katakana script, as well as some very basic Kanji (Chinese characters).

Conversation topics include introducing oneself and basic biographical information.

Below is a list of our new Above Beginner Japanese classes.  Enroll in one of the classes below or fill out our self-evaluation form in the next section. and we will be glad to help you identify your level and send you information on existing classes with open enrollment!

JAPANESE CLASSES LEVEL II meet once a week for 1.5 hours. (Min. 4 / Max. 9 students)
Cost: 8 Weeks: $350 (no make-ups) Textbook Included

Students must have completed Japanese Level I or must know how to read and write katakana and hiragana and have basic knowledge of sentence structure. Class will continue on developing basic conversation skills and grammar.

Mondays 7:30pm starting 5/1/17

As an above-beginner, our rolling admission policy allows you to start your classes anytime! Just fill out the form below and we will send you class recommendations. You then let us know which class you think will best suit your level and schedule and when you would like to come in for you first/trial class. Your first class will only count if you decide to enroll. If not, no problem! There will be no charge and you are welcome to try another class. You may also request more options if you don’t feel the classes we have chosen will be a good fit.

*Language Level: It is important that you answer the following questions as accurately and honestly as possible in order to enable us to place you in the appropriate class. NOTE: This questionnaire takes the place of evaluations for all languages except English.

*Please choose the sentence that most closely describes your speaking abilities:

Please describe your background in the language you wish to study. For example: What type of formal study (high school, college, outside school/institute)? How long did you study? Have you ever lived in a country where the language is spoken OR did you grow up in a household where the language was spoken? Please give details and any additional information that you think would help us understand your level.

*FOR EUROPEAN LANGUAGES & ARABIC ONLY: What tenses have you learned and which can you speak in comfortably with about 75% accuracy?

For languages NOT written in the Roman alphabet: Are you able to write in the language? Do your writing skills match your speaking skills? Please describe.

Do you speak any other foreign language(s)? If so, which one(s) and at what level?
